The Siberian Husky is the most widespread sleigh dog, known by the world, not only for professional trainers. It is very resistant and strong.
Height, weight: up to 60 cm high; up to 27 hg. Agile and light.
Fur, color: straight, medium length, flexible overcoat with soft and dense undercoat.
Appropriate for: winter sport enthusiasts, that move around in sleds.Not Appropriate for: quiet and inactive people.
As a member of the family: no aggression towards people. Kind and accessible, but very independent. Needs a person to guide it. Was originally bred by the Chukchi tribe as a sled dog to travel long distance. Nowadays, thanks to selective breeding, it is a good family dog.
Breed’s character: great learning capability and therefore has a great adaptability. Not appropriate as a companion because it feels the need of running and freedom. It want to be demanded. In a pack, dogs worry a lot about each other and burn a lot of energy. Very clean.
Common sicknesses: robust. Propensity to ureter deviation.
Life expectancy: up to 10 years.
